Every high school student has the pressure of passing either the ACT or the SAT in order to continue their education at a university level, but is this right? It does not make sense for one to be accepted into a university then placed in certain classes based on the score that they got on the ACT or SAT.
For instance, I had so much anxiety when taking my ACT test that I did not do as well as I could have. I tried over and over and still managed not to be thrilled with the scores that I recieved. I did get into college, and I recieved many scholarships and grants, but I was placed into classes based on my ACT scores.
The first day of classes at Marshall University I was way ahead of what the teacher was explaining that we would be accomplishing in that class. I tested out of the class which was just a waste of time and money. In my case because the university went by my ACT scores to place me into classes I was put into advanced classes that I really did not need to be in, and I was put into remedial classes when I really needed to be in advanced, this was all because I did not well on the ACT.
If students were not required to take the ACT/SAT in order to "go" to college then I feel like students would preform much better, in high school and in college. I believe this because then students would not feel the pressure to do so good on this test or else they will not be going to college.
